Foxgloves are one of my favourite wild flowers. So majestic and elegant even if they find themselves growing in the least favourable position. Some say you can transplant them easily, but I like the randomness with which they populate our land, rarely being in the same place twice. They are a bi-annual, so they choose their spot the year before they bloom, which gives me a chance to plant something complementary beside them.
The acrylic painting is one of three hanging panels, each of which has the foxgloves and the sea in the background. The size is 44 ins x 60 ins., a light canvas heavily gessoed before the colouring began. used some iridescent paint to add a little sparkle to everything.

    • Thank you for your great comment. Mostly I think of my art as whimsical, I see the joy in things, not the lines. I looked up Barbara Cooney, yes we could do tea together.
