Canvas on board can be very interesting when working with acrylics as if they were watercolours. There is time to do things, no rush to catch the paper at exactly the right degree of wetness. No need to struggle with paper tension either.
Watercolours are tough to pull off at the technical level, never mind what one has also to come up with in the way of style and composition. I am a patient artist, but I believe I prefer working freely with the subject and the light, rather than be constrained by the limitations of the paper quality.
